On-Going Ministries to Children

Camp Arrowhead. Located on Rehoboth Bay, Camp Arrowhead spans 167 acres and is open to all children who wish to have a fun-filled experience in the loving environment of God's beauty. Camp facilities are available to outside groups from September through May. The camp is operated by the Diocese of Delaware.

Cathedral Choir School of Delaware. This school has provided musical education to children and youth of Wilmington, Delaware, and the surrounding region since 1883. Our choristers range in age from seven to eighteen, and spend at least seven hours per week in choral training, free piano lessons, performance and travel.

The Delaware Ecumenical Council on Children and Families. This organization helps improve the health, safety and wellness of Delaware children, elderly and families.

"Tend my sheep,” Jesus said.

St. Andrew’s School in Middletown demonstrates the importance and vitality of our ministry to young people and their families. Just across the lake, St. Anne’s Episcopal School offers children Pre-K through 8th grade a wonderful start on life. On the western shores of Rehoboth Bay, Camp Arrowhead offers exciting summer camping. (We expect to welcome nearly a thousand campers this year.) In almost every congregation there are Sunday Schools and youth ministries. A number of our churches sponsor or host childcare ministries. And the Diocesan Council has entered into a partnership with First Steps / Primeros Pasos to offer affordable, quality childcare to working families in Georgetown.

Diocesan Commission for Christian Formation. A group of dedicated volunteers who arrange programs and activities for youth such as Wintercamp, as well as support for Christian Educators throughout the state.

First Steps / Primeros Pasos. A strong, multicultural, early learning center in Georgetown, with a program designed to prepare 3- and 4-year-old children for their academic experience in elementary school.

Foster Care in Delaware. The May, 2008 issue of the Delaware Communion talked at length about one couple's experience of foster care of children. Click here to see that issue in PDF format.

Health Care for everyone in Delaware? Here is news of a state-wide program to help those currently doing without health insurance.

Interfaith Resource Center. The Interfaith Resource Center has many resources for children, youth, and families, including curricula for Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Their on-line database is searchable.

Godly Play website. Children are taught the art of using religious language, parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action. May this help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives.

St. Anne's Episcopal School for Pre-K through 8th Grade students. Most teachers have a master’s degree or state certification, and all members have an obvious love for students. Located in Middletown.

St. Michael's School and Nursery. This non-profit institution in Wilmton provides affordable, multicultural, high-quality early childhood education and child care in a Christian atmosphere, and encourages physical, mental and spiritual growth. For children 8 weeks of age through kindergarten.
