Evensongs, Recitals, Concerts, and Special Services in the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware
Members of our various parishes enjoy visiting nearby parishes for Evensong, Lessons & Carols, and other special services and musical events. The list below includes all known afternoon and evening services, recitals, and concerts. It does not include any every-Saturday-evening celebrations of the Eucharist, which are more parish-based liturgies. - 9, 16, 23 Tuesdays, Lenten Noontime Taizé Service, Saints Andrew & Matthew, downtown Wilmington, 12:30 p.m. with delicious lunches offered 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- 7 Sunday Welsh Hymn Sing, St. Thomas's, Newark - 2:30pm, followed by Welsh Tea. Sing familiar Welsh melodies from our Hymnal, as well as some wonderful tunes from the Welsh hymnal that will be provided. Most singing will be in English.
- 7 Sunday Evensong for Lent, Immanuel-Highlands mixed Choir - 4pm
- 7 Sunday Benefit Concert, First & Central Presbyterian w/ Cathedral Episcopal Church of Saint John and students from the Cathedral Choir School of Delaware - 4pm

- 24 Wednesday, 7PM, Taize Service in Lent, in the chapel at Grace Church, Wilmington. A special service of simple music, scripture, and meditative silence.
- 25 Thursday, 7PM, The Vel Crows in Concert, at Grace Church, Wilmington. Oldies from the '50s and '60s.
- 28 PALM SUNDAY Most churches have services at their usual Sunday times commemorating the last day Jesus entered Jerusalem, a day crowds spread palm branches on his path as a sign of respect and delight. He would be crucified five days later.
APRIL
- 1 MAUNDY THURSDAY Most churches have an evening service commemorating the Last Supper, at which Jesus washed his disciples feet, after which he was arrested.
- 1 Thursday, Maundy Thursday Liturgy with students of the Cathedral Choir School of Delaware, at the Cathedral Church of Saint John - 7pm
- 2 GOOD FRIDAY Most churches offer services commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus.
