Adult Education

Link: Education for Ministry websiteEducation for Ministry (EfM) is a four-year program for small groups developed by the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. In Year One members study the Old Testament; Year Two focuses on the New Testament. Church History and Liturgy make up Years Three and Four. Many people decide to do just one year of EfM. Episcopal Campus Ministry at the University of Delaware. This Christian ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware and St. Thomas’s Parish, Newark reaches out to students through fellowship, communion, faith, and mission.

Prominent New Testament scholar Dr. Luke Timothy Johnson to give lecture on Friday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. and a Workshop on Saturday, September 25, 9:00 a.m. to Noon at Christ Church Christiana Hundred. The event, titled “Learning Jesus,” is based on Dr. Johnson’s book Living Jesus: Learning the Heart of the Gospel. The Friday lecture is free and open to all. Reservations for the Saturday workshop and for the lunch that follows may be made with Michael Sayer at 302 655-3379. The cost of the workshop is $25. October 1 and 2, The Magnetic Church Conference by Andrew Weeks. This conference, sponsored by St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Middletown, will equip your church to help attract, welcome, and retain new members. Andrew Weeks, a nationally known and gifted lay evangelist, will teach about models of evangelism that are appropriate for you, help you discover your gifts, and reap the joy of being God’s instrument in changing other people’s lives. Parish Life Day, Saturday, Nov. 20, 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Learn about living simply and, at the same time, enjoy a day with others from around the state, a day with your friends if you encourage them to join you, and a day with your children, if any. Grades 1-12

St. Andrew's School is a co-educational, boarding school for 9-12th Grades, in Middletown, Delaware.

St. Anne's Episcopal School is a co-educational private school, Pre-K through 8th Grade (no boarders), in Middletown, Delaware.

Cathedral Choir School of Delaware is an after-school program in Wilmington with many opportunities to perform.

Youth Ministry in the Diocese of Delaware means coming alongside an adolescent on their faith journey and helping them grow.

Day Care Centers and Pre-Schools in Delaware

Christ Church Episcopal Preschool, north of Wilmington is located on a lovely 22-acre campus set apart from the business of Wilmington. We have a unique campus, which includes a beautiful children’s chapel and ample classroom space, including a newly designed outdoor environmental classroom. As a ministry of our parish, CCEP educates young children, creates community among families, school and church, and honors and nurtures children in the Episcopal tradition. Call 302 472-0021.

First Steps / Primeros Pasos. A strong, multicultural, early learning center in Georgetown, with a program designed to prepare 3- and 4-year-old children for their academic experience in elementary school. Call 302 856-7406.

St. David's Episcopal Day School offers preschool classes for 3- and 4-year-olds. Classes are available for two, three or five days per week. Extended care is available. They have served families since 1955, in northeast New Castle County near the Pennsylvania border. Call 475-3747.

St. Michael's School and Nursery, downtown Wilmington. This non-profit institution in Wilmington provides affordable, multicultural, high-quality early childhood education and child care in a Christian atmosphere, and encourages physical, mental and spiritual growth. St. Paul's Preschool, Camden/Wyoming usually has over 40 children enrolled. To learn more about what they offer and their reasonable fees, call them at 697-3577.

Summer Camps

Camp Arrowhead in 184 photosCamp Arrowhead is located on Rehoboth Bay, spans 167 acres, and is open to all children who wish to have a fun-filled experience in the loving environment of God's beauty. Camp facilities are available to outside groups from September through May. The camp is operated by the Diocese of Delaware.

The fee for this fun yet well-disciplined camp was only $75/child in the summer of 2010, and all 67 children who attended received some kind of scholarship.

CLink to Christ Church Preschoolhrist Church Episcopal Preschool (CCEP) Preschool Summer Camp: In 2010, for ten weeks, 32 young children explored nature, created indoor and outdoor art, engaged in water games, listened to stories, singing songs, and madeg crafts. The expansive new outdoor classroom as well as a playground and terraced play area served as the backdrop for daily fun. Parents chose any or all of the ten weeks for their child’s summer enrichment. Delaware Vacation Bible Schools 2010

All Saints, Rehoboth Beach, July 19-23, "High Seas Expedition: Exploring the Mighty Love of God" is presented in cooperation with Westminister Presbyterian Church and and St. Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church.

July 25 through July 29, 5:00-8:00 p.m., St. James Newport. “Love the Lord, Your God" curriculum. Crafts, bible study, songs, snacks, and sandwich dinner provided. Register by calling 302-994-2029.

Fun, crafts, and games as we celebrate the “light of God in each of us.” The cost of the program is only $15 and a 64-oz. bottle of apple juice for each child.
